For some of us, success can be closely related to MDRT’s Whole Person concept referring to the lifetime quest to achieve balance in all aspects of life. This is not only about achieving our full potential, but also having engaging and meaningful relationships in our journey of life.
Whether it means to have a great career, home or family, success is something everyone strives to achieve. We speak to several MDRT members from Malaysia to find out their definition of success.
Hazel Ng, a four-year MDRT member:
“In a nutshell, success is what I can do for others and at the same time, bring my career to the next level. It means achieving my yearly goals in my professional career and being financially independent and stable enough to able to contribute to those in need, really giving back to society. The pandemic has really impacted the underserved communities more than others due to their financial and health disparities. I don’t just want to count my blessings; I want to be the blessing that others can count on.”
Harcharanjit Kaur, a four-year MDRT member:
“Success to me is all the sacrifices, the challenges, the failures that I have gone through to remain focused on my goal as a MDRT member. Success is when I don’t have to look at my paycheck for the next month; I don’t want to think twice when I purchase something especially for my two daughters and mother. There was a period when my mother had to think so hard before making a purchase. You see my father was the breadwinner and after he passed away, I made a promise to ensure my mother’s financial needs are always met. My mother had never sat in a brand-new car, in a luxury car and it was my dream to make this happen for her. I managed to make it a reality this year amid the pandemic. It was a proud moment for my mother and ultimately, my biggest success I have achieved.”
Adrian Lee, a two-year MDRT member:
“For several years, I was only involved in the insurance industry at a local level and had no global exposure. Success for me was when I qualified for MDRT and started to become more aware and familiar with the global scene of financial planning and education. Here, you’ll get to know and learn how others do financial planning in so many, different ways effectively and why they do it. Being in the local scene is not enough for the modern era, we need to qualify as a MDRT member physically so that we can add value to our clients.”
The reality is that success is defined in many ways, but it must come from truly within to motivate and yield success on your own terms. By understanding and valuing who you are and why you desire success, it’s easier to tap into your value by becoming more aware of your strengths, skills, and existing knowledge to enhance your every aspect of your life.
