Imagine waking up daily to ready buyers who know you, trust you and want to work with you even before meeting you. You read these incoming messages with excitement, wondering what led them here — strangers who look forward to planning their finances with you amidst the huge stigma that constantly challenges this profession. Over time you find your sweet spot and manage to identify the exact type of clientele you are happiest serving, and they too have found their ideal consultant. What a perfect match!
When I initially stepped into the world of social media, I would have never imagined that it would account for nearly half of my business in a year. The innocent and transparent documentation of my journey in this rewarding career has translated into numerous walk-in clients who are ready to invest their trust in me even before meeting me in person. Isn’t that the dream — to build a business based on trust and compassion while allowing people to gravitate toward you naturally? I was pleasantly surprised by how much easier it had become to sell insurance with the appropriate use of social media.
Some of the wild and infinite possibilities of social media include:
- Building your own community with walk-in prospects asking to join
- Creating your own ecosystem within your clientele to increase loyalty and add massive value beyond finance
- Actively converting your lifestyle prospects to loyal clients via social media
- Showing up as your highest and most authentic self to attract your desired clientele
- Utilizing the power of infinite connections to break into new markets
- Remaining at the top of your clients’ minds without having to engage them in person
Here are two key questions:
- How do you build your personality on social media to amplify the good work you’ve already been doing?
- How do you find your community online and convert them into offline business prospects?
Personalized content that would build your presence online include:
- How do you help your clients? (What problems do you solve?)
- What values do you hold dear to when conducting this business?
- What successful stories do you have to share?
- How do your clients feel about you? (Testimonials)
- What would it look like if clients chose to journey with you? (A road map perhaps)
- Do you enjoy your job and why?
- What was the most interesting encounter last week?
- What are some myths about the work we do?
- How have you added value to your clients beyond finance?
- What does an ideal working relationship with your clients look like?
- What services do you provide?
- What makes you stand out from your competitors?
- What do you do outside of work? (Help them to know you on a personal level!)
If you could take time to reflect deeply on these questions and answer them with honesty, you would have tons of content ready to share with the world. No one else would have the exact same answers as you, so go forth and show up as you. Always remember that people crave human connection and that it is simply irreplaceable. The human spirit is bound by shared values, experiences, thoughts, fears, etc. Surprise! We have a lot more in common than our differences, which the world likes to highlight through social media.
The following are various types of medium to consider:
- Use short posts (a picture with captions).
- Write an article (if you’re more comfortable expressing yourself in words).
- Shoot your own videos (generally more attention-grabbing).
- Conduct thought-provoking polls (to generate traffic).
- Use infographics.
It is always encouraged to have a combination of these different mediums. After all, variety is the spice of life! However, start with the one that you are most comfortable with. People want to see you expressing yourself authentically. What you say matters more than how aesthetically pleasing it looks.
The beginning is always the hardest. Get your first piece of content out, and you will definitely gain momentum as time passes. Building your presence may not be an overnight affair. However, with enough consistency, it will be a very sustainable and lasting tool as you build and scale your business further. The pandemic-induced physical isolation has evolved social media into information delivery systems and networking tools, changing the way people digest information. The open and transient nature of social media has also made room for creativity and sustenance in an ever-changing world. Are you going to be a part of it, or will you be a spectator of this powerful tool?
