ChatGPT helps me be disruptive and grow my business

I used to pay an agency to create content for my social media platforms, but it wasn’t for me. They didn’t understand what I was looking for as an insurance advisor. Now I use ChatGPT to develop all my content, and I admit I’m obsessed with it. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence platform that interacts with you in a dialogue format, providing prompt and detailed responses to questions.

I post on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, and I use Canva as a design tool for my social media outreach. I like that ChatGPT is very quick and very useful for creating content. For example, if I’m about to have a talk with prospects about retirement, or I might be presenting in front of 50 people, I’ll tell it to create marketing literature focused on insurance to give my clients or to put together a little skit for part of my presentation.

I use videos mostly on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, as well as a little bit on LinkedIn. My TikTok videos focus on insurance, retirement or savings. For these videos, I sometimes use scripts provided by ChatGPT. It comes up with ideas that you might not readily think of, such as creating the analogy of a retirement plan being like a travel tote that will take you to the largest vacation of your life. I’ll even ask ChatGPT for reasons a client might give for why they don’t want to buy insurance. Those might include “It costs money that I don’t have.” Then I ask it to give me a response to the objections. You can ask ChatGPT things like, “Give me some of the benefits of having health insurance for a script that a character can read in a video.”

My social media presence is bringing me new clients who wouldn’t give me the opportunity at first.

Wearing many hats

Sometimes I do humorous videos on WhatsApp and Instagram. I’ll put on sunglasses and a beach hat, pose as someone else and say, “I’m not planning my retirement; I’m going to this concert and I’m wasting all my money.” Then I remove the glasses and the hat, change into an insurance advisor and counter that objection. I’m trying to stand out from other agents who are doing TikTok videos. They’re doing them in a very formal way, but I want to be different and more creative, and ChatGPT helps with that.

I’m getting a better response from clients, prospects and friends. They’ll post “ha ha” in the comments. My personality is clicking with them, and I can come across as genuine. That allows me to start a dialogue about the need to start saving, and the conversation opens up.

I also have a podcast called “Dreams and Money” (“Suenos y Dinero” in Spanish), where the goal is to talk about different skills, tools and ideas that help people achieve their goals for financial freedom and generally be happier in life. I also invite other financial advisors and insurance agents to discuss pension plans in Mexico. I post the podcast on YouTube and Spotify, then post clips of it on Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp Status, which lets you post status updates (photos, videos, text, etc.) that disappear after 24 hours.

There was one podcast where I mentioned a personal experience with my dad. I said that he had cancer and didn’t have health insurance and how that affected our family. I put that little bit in my WhatsApp status, and a lot of people started writing to me, saying they wanted to buy insurance for their father or mother. It had a very big impact.

New horizons

I ask ChatGPT to give me different content for Instagram or TikTok or Facebook because the targets on each platform are different. For instance, Instagram posts have emojis while TikTok is shorter. There’s a unique style for every social media platform.

My social media presence is bringing me new clients who wouldn’t give me the opportunity at first. They would say, “No, I don’t want to listen to you.” But after they see my videos, they want to talk with me.

One of the best things about ChatGPT is you can access it by talking into your smartphone. I don’t write questions or prompts anymore. While I’m out walking, I can just talk into my phone and tell the ChatGPT app to write a post for Instagram explaining to prospects that insurance is important. I can write it either in a funny way or in a professional way.

In short, ChatGPT helps me to be more disruptive and innovative in the way that I talk about retirement to my clients and the materials I give them. It helps me think outside the box. It’s like my new best friend: You can ask it anything about your work, and it will give you solutions.
