PARK RIDGE, Ill. (Sept. 1, 2024) — Esther Hu of Sarawak, Malaysia, has been named a Trustee to the MDRT Foundation Board, with her three-year term beginning September 1, 2024. The MDRT Foundation is the charitable arm of MDRT, the leading international association for financial services professionals. Hu is an 11-year member of MDRT.
“Esther is a wonderful leader who brings valuable knowledge of the Foundation’s global markets,” said MDRT Foundation President Alessandro Forte, FCII, CFP. “Since joining in 2020, she has been an active volunteer in three Gives Day campaigns. She is a true example of inspiring others through her actions.”
As a Trustee of the MDRT Foundation Board, she is responsible for supporting the organizational growth of the Foundation while providing oversight for the programs supporting people in need. The Foundation’s global grant programs provide an opportunity for MDRT members to obtain funding for charitable organizations in their communities. Grants fund a variety of programs, including those that serve at-risk youth, homeless individuals, people with disabilities, and the elderly. In 2023, the Foundation awarded more than USD 1.8 million in grants to charities throughout the world.
“Service to others has always been a part of my life,” she notes. “I aim to live a purposeful life by adding value to others, and joining the board is one of the many ways I can uphold my mission and create a positive environment for all.”
She credits Mother Teresa, the Roman Catholic nun who founded the Missionaries of Charity and won the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize, with inspiring her passion for giving back to her community and making contributions, whether small or large, with great love. She is also a Bronze Knight of the MDRT Foundation – Knights are the organization’s most loyal supporters, having given USD 2,000 or more in lifetime contributions to a variety of charitable causes worldwide.
